Narrative One has been appointed by Rasmal Ventures — Qatar's first privateinvestment firm, trusted by sovereign wealth funds including Qatar Investment Authority — as their strategic communications partner. The mandate covers Rasmal's full communications function: market narrative, media strategy, and bilingual English and Arabic positioning across the Gulf and internationally.
We want to start by welcoming Soumaya, Alex, and the Rasmal team. This is a partnership we are genuinely proud of — and one that reflects where the Gulf's investment sector is heading.
The moment Gulf investment firms chose to be understood
Something is shifting in how the Gulf's most serious investment firms think about communications. For the better part of a decade, the dominant approach was restraint: do not say too much, do not appear too often, let the capital speak. That approach made sense when the LP universe was regional and the relationships were personal.
It no longer makes sense. LPs from London, Singapore, Seoul, and New York are now looking at Gulf-based managers as credible allocations. Founders across MENA, Türkiye, and Asia are choosing their investors based on what they can find online as much as what they hear in a room. Co-investors are vetting GPs before agreeing to term sheets. In that environment, the firms that have built a clear, credible, publicly legible narrative have a structural advantage over those that have not. Narrative is not a vanity metric for an investment firm at this moment. It is a commercial one.
Why Rasmal, and why now
Rasmal Ventures is not a new name in Qatar's investment community. The firm's partners were first-check investors in Careem and several other regional and global succeses. They built a QFC-licensed, institutionally governed investment firm that earned QIA's trust. They deployed into Hong Kong and South Korea before the Gulf-East corridor became the story every financial journalist was writing.
What makes this mandate significant is not the appointment itself. It is what the appointment signals about how Rasmal thinks about the next chapter. The firm backs technology companies across MENA, Türkiye, and Asia — validating Gulf market access before committing capital. It is now building the communications infrastructure to match the institutional ambition: a governed firm, with a proven model, ready to be understood by the LPs and founders who have not yet found it.
'The Gulf's investment community is evolving faster than most narratives can keep up with. The firms that build a clear, credible story now are the ones that capital and founders find first. We are proud to partner with Soumaya, Alex, and the Rasmal team.' — Tarek Fouad, Founder and CEO, Narrative One.
